Infants

Infants possess a delicate and tender nature and represent new beginning. Throughout their initial year of life, infants undergo rapid learning, transformation, and development. Notably, there are discernible disparities in developmental milestones between younger and older infants. This progression can pose challenges when devising plans for both very young, immobile infants and those who possess a greater degree of independence and mobility. At Maple Tree Academy, we meticulously design stimulating activities tailored for babies, taking into account their varying developmental levels. By exposing them to engaging activities and fostering interactions, we prioritize the significance of relationships in the process of learning and growth, exemplified by our baby bunnies.

Younger Toddlers

Between the ages of 12-24 month there is a flurry of activity, movement, language development, and the initial steps towards independence as young toddlers continue to grow and learn. Young toddlers possess a delicate balance of tenderness and strength and are renowned for their passion and energy. During this stage, everything is new and exciting, although it can also be challenging and frustrating for them. At Maple Tree Academy, we provide practical and hands-on learning opportunities for young toddlers. We believe in offering opportunities for practice and encouragement, understanding that a single activity can cater to the needs of many young toddlers when the teacher's expectations align with the child's age. Our focus at Maple Tree Academy is on building practical skills, language development, social and emotional learning, all while maintaining a relationship-focused approach to teaching and care.

Older Toddlers

Between the ages of 24 and 36 months, older toddlers exhibit increasing independence and resilience when given the opportunity to take charge of their own actions and face logical consequences. They are constantly learning from their own behaviors and choices, exploring new experiences, embracing messiness, and acquiring the skills to tidy up after themselves. Older toddlers are driven by a strong sense of self as they embark on forming friendships, nurturing relationships with teachers and other significant adults, and developing more sophisticated communication skills. At Maple Tree Academy, our focus lies in providing a supportive framework for children's learning, facilitating meaningful interactions, fostering the expansion of their knowledge, and empowering them by offering choices and options.

Preschool

Three-year-olds demonstrate an increasing ability to solve a variety of problems, devise innovative approaches, and possess an insatiable curiosity to understand the reasons behind things. They exhibit perseverance, resourcefulness, and a strong work ethic. At Maple Tree Academy, children are given ample time to tackle and overcome challenges, all the while encouraging them to ask meaningful questions and receive support in their educational journey. By actively participating in their learning and being trusted as learners, children's skills in all areas of development flourish. Additionally, Maple Tree Academy offers quarterly benchmarks to ensure children remain focused on age-appropriate growth and maintain their enthusiasm for learning.

Pre-Kindergarten

At the age of four, children are still building upon the skills they acquired during their time in preschool. They continue to learn and expand their knowledge through various experiences and practice. This age group is often associated with traits such as determination, strength, and tenacity. With continued hands-on learning and repeated opportunities to practice, concepts that were previously introduced become easier to understand. As children's language skills develop, they gain a better understanding of early reading and writing, which prepares them for kindergarten. At Maple Tree Academy, we strive to introduce concepts in a way that makes sense to the concrete mind of a pre-kindergartner. By providing an active learning environment and a supportive bond, pre-kindergartners can build confidence, learn with their whole bodies, and thrive in a predictable and stable classroom environment where they can become independent and trusted learners.
